Rae’s paintings are full of feelings about her surroundings. Semi-abstract oils capture a sense of nostalgia from spaces where people unwind through shape, line, texture, colour and directness in materials. Studio 12 is a generous space with vaulted ceiling, Belfast sink and north facing skylight, plus fabulous light in summer. It never gets very warm. I have roughly divided it into the storage/dry paintings end and working/wet paintings end. To the untrained eye it looks more disorganised than this!
