Artist Louise Ann Wilson will be talking about Fissure, a major site specific theatre production she is creating in the Kingsdale area, near Ingleton, for May 2011. Fissure is a work made in collaboration with artists, neuroimagers, earth scientists, cavers, fell runners, archaeologists, farmers, scouts, and many other local people.
Perhaps you have local stories, myths, folk songs or specialist knowledge that you would like to contribute. Come and discover how to get involved. Myths and fairytales have long been associated with midsummer. This exhibition celebrates
the point in the year when the day consumes the night; when the air is filled with
the heady scent of flowers, the maddening buzz of insects and the world burns at
its brightest. Expect to see work in variety of media that celebrates the stories
and energy of this intense time of year.

Drawing direct inspiration from her surroundings, over five days Vivian Mousdell will be moulding shoes of sand that will repeatedly populate the shore to be then reclaimed by the sea.
From one of the beach huts, creative colleague Simon Verhoef will document their advance & retreat with time lapse photography while inside another, visitors can discover generations of holiday photographs & memorabilia buried & eroded by sand.
Vivien is hoping to involve art students from Whitby Community College in the creative process, she would also like to include copies of memorabilia from local people & visitors to Whitby.
If you have any family holiday snaps of Whitby beach that she can scan & safely return, especially from generations past, Viv would like to hear from you - also if you have any old shoes of all sizes about to be thrown out from which she can take a cast!
